Social Budget Tracking and Analysis
Public expenditure allocations to health, education, social protection, help countries ensure that children can grow up healthy and happy, and develop to their full potential. Social budget tracking and analysis - in periods of economic crisis, as well as in periods of growth – are important initiatives to monitor the extent of priority and protection given to public budget items that are important for child well-being. At the same time, these tools can help ensure more efficient use of scarce resources, to advance budget and policy transparency, as well as public engagement and participation in decision-making.
The use of these tools can influence government policies—notably direct resource allocations to children and families.
